Citymapper link: open a route directly in the app

Qlynk makes a Citymapper link open in the app. Any citymapper.com address followed by a path is recognized. On iPhone, the installed app takes the link; on Android, Qlynk prepares an app-opening link with a fallback to the web.

Why does a Citymapper link open in the browser?

Citymapper addresses carry the route or the city in their path. Pasted into an invitation or on a website, they open in the browser instead of the visitor’s transit app. Qlynk accepts citymapper.com addresses followed by a path and prepares them to open in the app. Citymapper only covers some cities: check yours.

How to do it with Qlynk

  1. Copy the route or city page address from Citymapper.
  2. Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose the end of the link.
  3. Share the short link: the app opens on the route.

On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Citymapper address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.

When is it useful?

  • Giving the public transport route to your office
  • Attaching a transit route to a wedding or event invitation
  • Printing a QR code on a flyer that shows how to get there
  • Helping visitors from abroad get around a covered city
