Why does a Signal link open in the browser?
Signal keeps its addresses short and hides the details behind a “#”: signal.me/#p/ for a phone number, signal.group/# for a group. Pasted into a web page, they often open in the browser, which does nothing with them. Qlynk recognizes exactly these two forms and prepares them to open in the app.
How to do it with Qlynk
- In Signal, copy the link to your profile or to the group.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose the end of the link.
- Share the short link: the Signal app opens on the contact or the group.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Signal address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Giving people a way to reach you on Signal from a signature or a business card
- Inviting the members of a club or association to a group with a QR code
- Offering a journalist’s sources an encrypted way to get in touch
- Replacing a phone number written out in full with a clickable link
Which Signal links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Contact by phone number | https://signal.me/#p/+15551234567 |
| Group | https://signal.group/#abcdefghij |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Signal on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Which Signal links are recognized?
signal.me/#p/ followed by a number starting with +, and signal.group/# followed by the group identifier.
Is a Signal link private with Qlynk?
The short link is public and Qlynk counts clicks. The content of your messages stays in Signal, but do not put a private number in a link that is widely shared.
What does a visitor without Signal see?
On Android, the web page appears as a fallback. On iPhone, the address opens in the browser.
