Why does a Tumblr link open in the browser?
Every Tumblr blog lives at its own address, such as yourblog.tumblr.com. When you paste that address into a message or a bio, the phone most often opens it in the browser, without your follows or your likes. Qlynk recognizes post addresses (with /post/ and a number) and prepares the opening in the Tumblr app.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Copy the address of the Tumblr post (it contains /post/ followed by a number).
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, you can choose the end of the link.
- Share the short link: on a phone, it opens the Tumblr app if it is installed.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Tumblr address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Sharing a post from your blog in a newsletter, so Tumblr followers find it in their app
- Highlighting one specific post in the bio of another network
- Printing a QR code on a flyer or a card that leads to a portfolio post
- Sending a friend a post they can reblog right away
