Why does a Uber link open in the browser?
A ride link opened from a message or an email quickly lands on Uber’s mobile site, which asks you to sign in again. Qlynk recognizes two forms of address, uber.com/go/ and m.uber.com/ul, and prepares them to open in the app, where the destination can be pre-filled. Uber is not available in every city.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Prepare your ride link (a uber.com/go/ or m.uber.com/ul address).
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose the end of the link.
- Share the short link and test it on your phone.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Uber address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Putting a link in an invitation that starts a ride to the venue
- Helping your customers get to your premises with a pre-filled ride link
- Printing a QR code on an event ticket
- Giving seminar guests a ride link
Which Uber links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Ride (go) | https://www.uber.com/us/en/go/ |
| Universal link | https://m.uber.com/ul/?action=setPickup |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Uber on phones.
