Claude Skill: Your Qlynk Short Links from Claude

Install the Qlynk skill in Claude, give it your API key, then simply ask: “shorten this link”, “create the QR code”, “how many clicks this week?”. Claude creates, organizes and measures your Qlynk links for you.

The official Qlynk Claude skill

  • Create short links organized in a category, with an ending in your name (qlynk.eu/your-name) on Pro
  • Create a link's QR code, as PNG or SVG
  • Read the clicks of one link or all your links, by day, week, month or year
  • Organize, rename, edit and delete your links

Version 1.0 · 18 KB · Python 3, no dependencies · Claude.ai and Claude Code

Shorten this link: https://www.instagram.com/myrestaurant/

Here's your short link: qlynk.eu/x7k2pq. On a phone, it opens the Instagram app directly.

Create the QR code for the poster.

The QR code is ready (qr-x7k2pq.png). Each scan will be counted separately in your stats.

How many clicks on my links this week?

412 clicks this week across 18 links, including 37 QR code scans. On top: the lunch menu (156 clicks).

Put this link in the Clients > Smith category.

Done: qlynk.eu/x7k2pq is now in “Clients › Smith”.

How to install the Qlynk Claude skill

You need a Qlynk account (the Free plan is enough) and an API key. It takes a few seconds to create and is shown only once: copy it right away.

In Claude.ai or the Claude app

  1. Create your key in API keys, in your Qlynk account.
  2. Download qlynk-links.zip, without unzipping it.
  3. In Claude, open Settings, then Capabilities. Turn on code execution with network access, and add qlynk.eu to the allowed domains.
  4. In the Skills section, choose “Upload skill” and select the .zip file.
  5. In a conversation, paste your key when Claude asks for it, then write your request.

In Claude Code (personal skills)

  1. Create your key in API keys.
  2. Unzip the skill into the personal skills folder, from a terminal:
    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip ~/Downloads/qlynk-links.zip -d ~/.claude/skills
  3. Give the key to Claude Code once and for all, in ~/.claude/settings.json:
    {
      "env": { "QLYNK_API_KEY": "your-api-key" }
    }
  4. Restart Claude Code and ask: “shorten https://… with Qlynk”.

What you can ask

Link in your name (Pro)
“Shorten https://… to qlynk.eu/summer-sale”. If the ending is already taken, Claude suggests a free variant. Pro plan: on Free, Claude explains that the ending is picked at random.
Shorten
“Shorten this link and call it summer-sale”, “Create a short link for this page and put it in Newsletter”.
QR code
“Make the QR code for qlynk.eu/menu as SVG for the printer”, “the same one in navy blue on white”.
Stats
“How many clicks on my links this month?”, “Where do the visits to the promo link come from?”, “Which link does best this week?”
Organizing
“Put this link in the Clients category”, “Create the Smith subcategory in Clients”, “List my uncategorized links”.
Edit
“Change the destination of qlynk.eu/menu”, “Rename this link”, “Delete the test link” (Claude always asks for confirmation before deleting).

Requests per day by plan

Each action by Claude goes through the Qlynk API and counts toward your daily quota, which resets at midnight. The QR code, calculated on the spot, doesn't count.

PlanRequests per dayGood to know
Free50Stats for the last 30 days, 10 active links at a time, link ending picked at random.
Pro10,000Unlimited links, chosen link ending, full history, expiry date. €12 per month, excl. VAT. No commitment.

When a limit is reached, Claude tells you clearly and says when to try again. API details are in the documentation.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Claude skill?

A skill is a small folder of instructions and scripts that Claude loads when your request calls for it. Qlynk's skill teaches Claude to call the Qlynk API with your key: you write in plain English, Claude picks the right action and replies.

Do I have to pay to use it?

No. The skill is free and works with a Free Qlynk account, within 50 requests per day and 10 active links. The Pro plan (€12 per month, excl. VAT) raises that to 10,000 requests per day, makes links unlimited and lets you choose the end of the link. You also need access to Claude where skills are available.

Is my API key safe?

The key stays with you: the script reads it from an environment variable and never prints it. It's only used to talk to qlynk.eu. You can revoke it at any time in your account, and create one just for Claude.

Why does the question “how many clicks” use several requests?

The API gives stats link by link. For a total across all your links, the skill queries each one (the 50 most recent by default): one request per link. On the Free plan, it's better to ask for the total once or twice a day.

Does the QR code go through an outside service?

No. The QR code is calculated on your computer, or in Claude's workspace, by the skill's script. It points to your short link, and scans are counted separately in your stats.

Claude skill or MCP server: what's the difference?

An MCP server is a service that runs all the time and exposes tools to Claude. A skill is simpler: a folder with a SKILL.md file and scripts, which Claude reads and runs only when it needs to. Qlynk offers a skill. There's no Qlynk MCP server yet, and the REST API stays open to all your tools.

What's in the SKILL.md file?

SKILL.md tells Claude when to use the skill and which command to run for each request: shorten, create a QR code, read stats, organize. The Python scripts next to it call the Qlynk API. Everything is readable: open the .zip to check what the skill does before you install it.
