Why does a Dailymotion link open in the browser?
A Dailymotion address pasted into a conversation or an email often opens in the phone’s browser, away from the app where the viewer is signed in. The web player is more limited there, and playback may restart. Qlynk recognizes video, playlist and channel addresses, and prepares the opening in the app.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Copy the address of the video, playlist or channel from Dailymotion.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, you can choose the end of the link.
- Send the short link: the viewer lands in the Dailymotion app if it is installed.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Dailymotion address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Sending a news report or a webinar video by text or email
- Sharing a themed playlist with your community
- Putting your media’s Dailymotion channel in a bio
- Showing a QR code on printed material that starts a demo video
Which Dailymotion links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Video | https://www.dailymotion.com/video/VIDEO_ID |
| Playlist | https://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/PLAYLIST_ID |
| Channel | https://www.dailymotion.com/yourchannel |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Dailymotion on phones.
