Opens straight in the app

Open Facebook links in the app, not a login page

To open a Facebook link in the app, shorten it with Qlynk. facebook.com, fb.com and fb.watch addresses are recognized. On a phone, the Facebook app opens if it is installed; on a computer, the page opens in the browser.

Why does a Facebook link open in the browser?

A Facebook page opened in a phone browser often shows a login prompt or an “Open app” banner before much else. A visitor who meant to follow your business, join your group or watch a video may give up there. Facebook addresses are also long once a group or video ID is in them, which makes them hard to print on a flyer or read out loud. In the app, the visitor is signed in and lands on the right page.

How to do it with Qlynk

  1. Copy the address of your page, group, event or video from Facebook.
  2. Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose an ending such as qlynk.eu/our-page.
  3. Share the short link or its QR code: on a phone, it opens the Facebook app.

On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Facebook address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.

When is it useful?

  • Printing a QR code to your business page on receipts or table cards
  • Inviting customers to a private group from an order confirmation email
  • Sharing a Facebook video or event in a newsletter
  • Linking your page from a website footer or email signature

Frequently asked questions

Do Facebook group links open the app?

Yes. Any facebook.com address followed by a path, such as facebook.com/groups/yourgroup, is recognized.

What does a visitor without the Facebook app see?

They land on the original Facebook web page, as with a regular link.

Can I change where the link goes later?

Yes. The short link keeps the same address, and you can edit its destination from your Qlynk dashboard, so printed QR codes keep working.
