Opens straight in the app

Open Instagram links in the app, not in the browser

To open an Instagram link in the app, shorten it with Qlynk. On iPhone, Instagram opens if the app is installed; on Android, Qlynk opens the app and falls back to the web page if it is not there. On a computer, the profile or post opens in the browser as usual.

Why does a Instagram link open in the browser?

An Instagram link placed in an email signature, a text message or on a printed QR code usually opens in the phone’s browser. Instagram then asks the visitor to log in before they can follow you or like a reel, and many people stop at that screen. The link is also long and hard to type when it appears on a business card or a store window. Sending people to the app means they land on your profile already signed in, with the Follow button right there.

How to do it with Qlynk

  1. Copy your profile, post or reel address from Instagram (Share, then Copy link).
  2. Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, pick a readable ending such as qlynk.eu/my-shop.
  3. Use the short link or its QR code: on a phone, it opens the Instagram app.

On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Instagram address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.

When is it useful?

  • Adding your Instagram profile to an email signature or business card
  • Putting a QR code to your account on packaging, menus or a shop counter
  • Linking a reel or post from your Shopify store or newsletter
  • Pointing website visitors to a story highlight

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a clickable link on Instagram?

Instagram only makes links clickable in a few places: your bio, and stories with the Link sticker. Links in post and reel captions stay plain text. A short Qlynk link is easier to read in a bio and tells you how many people clicked.

Can I use a Qlynk link as my Instagram bio link?

Yes. Paste the short link in the Website field of your profile. It counts human clicks and leaves out bots and link previews. Links opened from your bio load in Instagram’s built-in browser, which Qlynk does not control.

What happens if the visitor does not have Instagram?

On Android, they land on the original Instagram web page. On iPhone, the address opens in the browser like any regular link.

Are reels and stories supported, or only profiles?

Profiles, posts, reels, stories and Explore pages are all recognized.
