Why does a Shopify link open in the browser?
Every Shopify store has an internal myshopify.com address, even when it is published under its own domain name. Qlynk only recognizes that form: a store that only shows its custom domain name is not covered. The Shopify app is first of all a management tool for merchants, so whether a product page opens there depends on what the app accepts.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Copy the product address in the form myshopify.com/products/.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose the end of the link.
- Share it, and test it yourself on a phone before you send it out.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Shopify address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Sharing a product page from your store in a message to a customer
- Creating a memorable short link for a new arrival
- Printing a QR code to a product on a parcel or flyer
- Tracking the clicks on each product featured in a newsletter
Which Shopify links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Product | https://yourstore.myshopify.com/products/product-name |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Shopify on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Is my custom domain name recognized?
No. Only addresses on .myshopify.com/products/ are. The short link still works, with a regular redirect.
Will the app always open?
Not necessarily. It depends on whether the Shopify app supports the link, so test on your own phones.
Does Qlynk replace my store?
No. It shortens and measures links; the sale stays on your Shopify store.
