Opens straight in the app

Medium link: open an article directly in the Medium app

Qlynk makes a Medium link open in the app if it starts with medium.com/@ followed by the author’s name. Articles and author profiles are covered. On iPhone, the installed app takes the link; on Android, Qlynk prepares an app-opening link.

Why does a Medium link open in the browser?

Medium articles are often shared in messaging apps or newsletters and open in the browser, where the reader runs into the paywall without being signed in. Qlynk recognizes addresses like medium.com/@author and prepares them to open in the Medium app, where the reader is already signed in. Publications and custom domains are not recognized.

How to do it with Qlynk

  1. Copy the article or profile address from Medium (it starts with medium.com/@).
  2. Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose the end of the link.
  3. Share it: the Medium app opens for people who have it installed.

On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Medium address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.

When is it useful?

  • Sending an expert blog article to your contact list
  • Putting your Medium profile in the bio of a professional network
  • Sharing a specific article during a presentation with a QR code
  • Tracking how many readers open your latest post

Frequently asked questions

Is my article inside a Medium publication recognized?

Only if its address starts with medium.com/@ and the author’s name.

Does a Medium blog on a custom domain work?

No. The short link then does a regular redirect.

Does Qlynk get around the Medium paywall?

No. Access to articles stays as Medium sets it.
