Why does a Notion link open in the browser?
Notion page addresses end with a long string of characters that is impossible to remember or dictate. Opened in a mobile browser, they offer a lighter version of the page. For a freelancer sharing a project brief or a knowledge base, a short link is more reliable in an email or on printed material.
How to do it with Qlynk
- In Notion, copy the page link (Share, then Copy link).
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, you can choose the end of the link.
- Share the short link: on a phone, it opens the Notion app.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Notion address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Sharing a project brief or a project tracker with a client
- Distributing a guide or training material published from Notion
- Putting a QR code to a public page on a printed document
- Replacing an endless address in an email
Which Notion links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Page or database | https://www.notion.so/Page-title-PAGE_ID |
| Workspace | https://www.notion.so/yourworkspace/Page-title-PAGE_ID |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Notion on phones.
