Why does a SoundCloud link open in the browser?
SoundCloud is often used to share demos, sets and podcasts before they are published elsewhere. The link then gets pasted into private messages and emails to labels or event organizers. Opened in a mobile browser, the track plays in a limited player. In the app, the listener can comment, like and follow.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Copy the address of the profile, track or set from SoundCloud.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, you can choose the end of the link.
- Share the short link: on a phone, the SoundCloud app opens.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original SoundCloud address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Sending a demo to a label or an event organizer
- Sharing a DJ set on a flyer with a QR code
- Distributing a podcast episode in a newsletter
- Shortening a long link before putting it in a bio
Which SoundCloud links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Profile | https://soundcloud.com/yourusername |
| Track | https://soundcloud.com/yourusername/track-title |
| Set (playlist) | https://soundcloud.com/yourusername/sets/set-name |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open SoundCloud on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Does a private track stay private?
Qlynk does not change SoundCloud’s settings. A secret link stays a secret link, but anyone who has the short link can follow the redirect.
Do on.soundcloud.com links work?
No. Qlynk recognizes soundcloud.com, with or without www or m. Paste the full address.
Can I see the clicks for each link?
Yes, with the statistics of each Qlynk link.
