Why does a Telegram link open in the browser?
A t.me link tapped in a phone browser shows an intermediate page with an “Open in Telegram” button, which adds a step to every join. For a channel owner promoting from a website, a newsletter or another platform, part of the audience stops at that page. Private invite links are long strings that are hard to read aloud or print. Telegram also tells you little about where new members came from, while a short link counts its clicks.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Copy the t.me link of your channel, group, bot or profile from Telegram.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose the end of the link, such as qlynk.eu/join.
- Share the short link or its QR code: on a phone, it opens Telegram.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Telegram address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Promoting your channel from a website, newsletter or podcast
- Printing a QR code to a community group at an event or meetup
- Sharing a support or ordering bot with customers
- Giving each campaign its own link to see which one brings members
Which Telegram links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Channel, group or profile | https://t.me/yourchannel |
| Bot | https://t.me/yourbot |
| Private invite link | https://t.me/+INVITE_CODE |
| Older address | https://telegram.me/yourchannel |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Telegram on phones.
Frequently asked questions
What is a t.me link?
t.me is Telegram’s official link domain. A t.me address followed by a public username opens that channel, group, bot or profile, and t.me/+ followed by a code is a private invite.
Do private invite links with a + work?
Yes. Any t.me address followed by a path is recognized, including those that start with +.
Are clicks counted before Telegram opens?
Yes. The click on the Qlynk link is counted before the redirect, and bots and duplicates are left out.
