Why does a LinkedIn link open in the browser?
A LinkedIn profile opened in a phone browser often asks the visitor to sign in, and part of the profile stays hidden until they do. For a freelancer, consultant or recruiter, that means a lost connection request or message. The full profile address is also long and awkward on a printed resume or a business card. In the app, the visitor is already signed in and can connect or message you in one tap.
How to do it with Qlynk
- Copy the address of your profile, company page, post or job from LinkedIn.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, choose an ending like qlynk.eu/your-name.
- Put the short link on your resume, signature and slides: on a phone, it opens LinkedIn.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original LinkedIn address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Adding your profile to an email signature, resume or business card
- Printing a QR code to your company page on a booth or event badge
- Sharing a job opening with candidates by text or email
- Linking a post or article from your website or newsletter
Which LinkedIn links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Profile | https://www.linkedin.com/in/your-name |
| Company page | https://www.linkedin.com/company/your-company |
| Post | https://www.linkedin.com/posts/POST_ID |
| Job | https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/JOB_ID |
| Article | https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/article-title |
| Group | https://www.linkedin.com/groups/GROUP_ID |
| Event | https://www.linkedin.com/events/EVENT_ID |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open LinkedIn on phones.
Frequently asked questions
Do country versions like uk.linkedin.com work?
Yes. Addresses with a two or three letter prefix, such as uk.linkedin.com or ca.linkedin.com, are recognized.
Are school and showcase pages supported?
Yes, /school/ and /showcase/ addresses open the app, just like /company/ pages.
Does the visitor need to be signed in to LinkedIn?
That depends on the content and on LinkedIn’s own rules. Qlynk opens the app, or the web page, at the right place.
