Opens straight in the app

Open Spotify links in the app, not the web player

To open a Spotify link in the app, share it through a Qlynk short link. On iPhone, Spotify opens if it is installed; on Android, Qlynk opens the app and falls back to the web player if it is not there. On a computer, the link opens open.spotify.com as usual.

Why does a Spotify link open in the browser?

An open.spotify.com link tapped on a phone often loads the web player in the browser. It offers limited playback and keeps pushing the listener to open the app, and many leave before a single song plays. For an independent artist, a podcaster or a venue promoting a lineup, every listener lost there is a stream lost. In the app, playback starts right away, with the listener’s own library and Follow button.

How to do it with Qlynk

  1. In Spotify, tap Share, then Copy link, on a track, album, playlist or episode.
  2. Paste the open.spotify.com address into Qlynk. With Pro, pick a short ending like qlynk.eu/new-single.
  3. Share the short link: on a phone, it opens the Spotify app and starts there.

On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Spotify address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.

When is it useful?

  • Promoting a new single or album on posters and merch with a QR code
  • Linking each podcast episode from your show notes or newsletter
  • Sharing a playlist with customers of a store, gym or restaurant
  • Pointing fans to your artist profile from your website

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Spotify link not opening the app?

A link tapped in an email, a text or a QR code scan is often handled by the browser, which shows the web player. A Qlynk link passes the open.spotify.com address to the phone in a way that opens the Spotify app when it is installed.

Do spotify.link addresses work?

No. Qlynk recognizes open.spotify.com addresses. Open the item and paste its full open.spotify.com address instead.

Are links with a language code, like intl-de, supported?

Yes, addresses such as open.spotify.com/intl-de/track/TRACK_ID are recognized.

Can I see how many people clicked my playlist link?

Yes. Qlynk counts human clicks on each short link and leaves out bots, link previews and duplicates.
