Zoom link: open a meeting directly in the Zoom app

To open a Zoom link directly in the app, share it through a Qlynk short link. Meeting addresses in the form zoom.us/j/ followed by the meeting number, including those on a subdomain, are recognized. On a phone, Zoom opens if the app is installed.

Why does a Zoom link open in the browser?

A Zoom meeting link contains a number and often an embedded passcode, which makes it long and tricky to copy. Opened in a mobile browser, it may offer to download the app when the participant is already late. A short, readable link helps people join quickly.

How to do it with Qlynk

  1. In Zoom, copy the meeting’s invitation link.
  2. Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, you can choose the end of the link.
  3. Share the short link: on a phone, it opens the Zoom app.

On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Zoom address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.

When is it useful?

  • Giving a stable link for your recurring meetings
  • Inviting people to a webinar from a page or a newsletter
  • Writing the link on a projected slide, with a QR code to scan
  • Sending the link by text to a participant
