Why does a Zoom link open in the browser?
A Zoom meeting link contains a number and often an embedded passcode, which makes it long and tricky to copy. Opened in a mobile browser, it may offer to download the app when the participant is already late. A short, readable link helps people join quickly.
How to do it with Qlynk
- In Zoom, copy the meeting’s invitation link.
- Paste it into Qlynk. With Pro, you can choose the end of the link.
- Share the short link: on a phone, it opens the Zoom app.
On iPhone, Qlynk sends the original Zoom address: iOS opens the app if it’s installed, with no error message. On Android, the link opens the app, or the web page if the app isn’t installed. On a computer, the page opens as usual.
When is it useful?
- Giving a stable link for your recurring meetings
- Inviting people to a webinar from a page or a newsletter
- Writing the link on a projected slide, with a QR code to scan
- Sending the link by text to a participant
Which Zoom links open the app?
| Link type | Example address |
|---|---|
| Meeting | https://zoom.us/j/123456789 |
| Meeting on an account with a subdomain | https://yourcompany.zoom.us/j/123456789 |
Paste any of these addresses into Qlynk: the short link you get will open Zoom on phones.
