Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask about Qlynk

Qlynk is a URL shortener made in France: short links, QR codes, bot-free click stats and links that open straight in the app on phones. The answers below are grouped by topic.

Qlynk at a glance

What is Qlynk?

Qlynk is a URL shortener that makes short links, QR codes and click stats, and opens links directly in the app (YouTube, Instagram, Amazon, LinkedIn…) on phones. It is built for creators, freelancers and small businesses, from YouTubers to Shopify stores and Amazon affiliates. Learn more

Is Qlynk a free URL shortener?

Yes, Qlynk has a Free plan with no time limit and no credit card required. It includes 10 active links, in-app opening, PNG QR codes and 30 days of stats. A paid Pro plan adds custom back-halves, unlimited links and full stats history. Learn more

Who is behind Qlynk?

Qlynk is built and run by Fabien Kost under the ClosiQode brand, a small independent business in France. There is no large company or investor behind the service. You can write in through the contact form, and support replies in English.

How do you pronounce Qlynk?

Qlynk is pronounced “Q-link”, the letter Q followed by the word “link”. It is spelled with a y, and the site lives at qlynk.eu.

Is Qlynk available in English?

Yes. Qlynk is fully available in English, French and Spanish: the website, sign-up, the dashboard, the emails and the legal pages. You choose the language of your account in your profile. Support replies in English.

Where is Qlynk hosted?

In France, with the hosting company o2switch, whose servers are located in France. Visitor locations are looked up with a database installed on that same server, so no IP address is sent to an outside service.

Can I customize the end of my short link?

Yes, with the Pro plan. You choose the back-half, for example qlynk.eu/spring-sale. On the Free plan, Qlynk picks a random ending. A custom ending is 3 to 50 characters long, using unaccented letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, and endings already taken or reserved by the site are refused.

Can I change where a short link goes after creating it?

Yes. You can edit the destination URL from your dashboard without changing the short link. A QR code that is already printed on a flyer or a package keeps working. Changing the back-half, however, changes the short link itself.

Do short links expire?

No, not unless you choose so. A Qlynk link stays active as long as you do not delete it and your account exists. On the Pro plan you can set an expiration date, after which the link shows a “link expired” page instead of redirecting.

Can I use my own domain name?

No. All Qlynk links live under qlynk.eu, and custom domains are not offered today. With the Pro plan you choose the end of the link, not the domain.

Can I shorten a link that is already shortened?

No. Qlynk refuses links from other shorteners (bit.ly, tinyurl.com, t.co and about thirty others) as well as Qlynk links, because they would hide the real destination. Paste the final URL of the page instead. IP addresses, unusual ports and URLs containing login details are refused too.

Is the QR code free?

Yes, every link gets its own PNG QR code on the Free plan. SVG QR codes, handy for designers and printers, and colored QR codes are part of the Pro plan. The QR code is drawn in your browser by a script hosted on qlynk.eu, with no outside service.

Can I add UTM parameters to my links?

Yes, with the Pro plan. You fill in the UTM fields (source, medium, campaign…) when editing a link, and Qlynk adds them to the destination URL. This helps you see in Google Analytics or Shopify which post or campaign brought the visit.

What is a deep link?

A deep link is a link that opens an app directly instead of a web browser. With Qlynk, a link to a YouTube video opens the YouTube app on the phone, where the viewer is already signed in, instead of a web page that asks them to log in. It works the same way for Instagram, Amazon, Spotify and many others. Learn more

Which apps can Qlynk open?

Qlynk recognizes 50 apps, including Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, Telegram, Spotify, Google Maps, Amazon, Airbnb, Zoom and Notion. Detection is automatic, based on the destination URL. In-app opening is included in both the Free and Pro plans. Learn more

Why do my YouTube links open in the browser instead of the app?

Because a plain youtube.com link pasted in an email, a text message, a bio or a QR code often opens in the phone’s browser, where the viewer is not signed in. A Qlynk link detects iPhone or Android and opens the YouTube app when it is installed. That way viewers land signed in, ready to like, comment or subscribe. Learn more

Can an Amazon affiliate link open in the Amazon app?

Yes, for Amazon product pages on amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.es and amazon.it. On a phone where the Amazon app is installed, the link opens the product in the app, where shoppers are usually already signed in. Paste the full product URL containing /dp/ or /gp/product/, since amzn.to short links are not recognized as Amazon links. Learn more

How does opening in the app work on iPhone and Android?

On iPhone, Qlynk sends back the original https address, and Apple’s Universal Links open the app if it is installed, so the viewer never sees Safari’s “invalid address” alert. On Android, Qlynk builds an “intent” link that targets the installed app and falls back to the web page if the app is missing. An in-between page also shows an “Open” button and a link to continue in the browser.

What happens if the app is not installed?

The destination web page opens in the browser. On a computer there is no app to open, so Qlynk does a regular redirect. If nothing has opened after a few seconds, the in-between page also sends the viewer to the browser.

Click stats

What stats does Qlynk show?

For each link: clicks, unique visitors, QR code scans, countries, devices (mobile, tablet, desktop), operating systems, browsers, languages, referring sites and time of visit. QR scans are counted separately from clicks. A page also shows whether the link opened in the app, in the browser or from a QR code.

Can I see who clicked my link?

No, not as individuals. Qlynk shows totals and charts (country, device, browser, referring site…), never a name, an email or an IP address. This is by design, to respect your visitors’ privacy.

Are bots counted as clicks?

No. Qlynk filters out bots, search engines, automated tools, security scanners, page prefetching and the link previews generated by Slack, WhatsApp or LinkedIn. These hits are only counted separately, with no personal data.

Is the same visitor counted several times?

Not within a short window. Qlynk counts one visit per visitor and per link every 30 minutes, and repeated hits within that window are dropped as duplicates. Your own clicks are not counted either when you are signed in to your account.

How far back can I see my stats?

The last 30 days on the Free plan, and with no time limit on the Pro plan. Visit-level details are deleted after 13 months, but daily totals are kept, with no personal data, and members never see an IP address.

Can I export my click data?

Yes, with the Pro plan. The CSV export opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets and contains the detailed visits of a link for the chosen period, without IP addresses, or the list of all your links with their clicks. Stats can also be read through the API, within your plan’s history limit.

Pricing and plans

How much does Qlynk cost?

The Free plan costs nothing. The Pro plan costs €12 per month, excl. VAT or €120 per year, excl. VAT, with no commitment. VAT is added at checkout based on your country, and the checkout page shows the exact total before you pay. Learn more

What do I get with the Free plan?

You get 10 active links at a time, in-app opening, PNG QR codes, 30 days of stats, categories and subcategories, and API access up to 50 requests per day. The end of the link is random and cannot be chosen. Deleting a link frees its slot, or you can switch to Pro for unlimited links. Learn more

What do I get with the Pro plan?

You get unlimited links (up to 500 new ones per day), custom back-halves such as qlynk.eu/your-name, full stats history, CSV export, SVG and colored QR codes, link expiration dates and UTM parameters. You also get up to 10,000 API requests per day and a support reply within 24 business hours. Learn more

Is there a Bitly alternative with a free plan?

Qlynk is one option: its Free plan has no time limit, needs no credit card and includes in-app opening, QR codes and click stats with bots filtered out. If you need custom back-halves or longer stats history, the Pro plan costs €12 per month, excl. VAT, with VAT added at checkout based on your country. Learn more

Can I cancel the Pro plan anytime?

Yes, at any time from your dashboard, with no commitment. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. Your account then goes back to Free without deleting anything, only the limits come back.

How is payment handled?

Through Stripe, which receives your card details instead of Qlynk. Qlynk never sees or stores your card number, only your subscription ID. VAT is added based on your country, EU businesses with a valid VAT number are billed without VAT, and invoices are available in your dashboard.

Privacy and GDPR

Does clicking a Qlynk link set cookies?

No. Clicking a Qlynk link sets no cookie and loads nothing from a third-party service, and the redirect contains no ad tracker or outside analytics tool. Only the pages of the qlynk.eu website show a cookie banner for analytics and advertising cookies, which you can decline. The site also sets a technical session cookie when you sign in or open the contact form.

Does Qlynk store visitors’ IP addresses?

Not in full. The complete IP address is only used in memory, long enough to spot bots and guess the country. Qlynk stores a truncated IP (the last block is replaced, for example 82.64.136.0) and a daily fingerprint that changes every day and cannot be used to follow a person.

Is Qlynk GDPR compliant?

Qlynk is designed to keep data to the strict minimum: truncated IPs, no cookies on visitors, fixed retention periods and hosting in France. For your link stats, you decide how the figures are used and Qlynk processes them on your behalf. Qlynk does not sell or share your data: only o2switch (hosting) and Stripe (Pro payments) have access, within the limits of their role.

How do I export or delete my data?

From your profile, in a few clicks. You can export your account, your links and their stats to a file, or delete your account, which erases your links, stats, API keys and photo. For any other request, use the contact form with the subject “Personal data”, and you will get a reply within one month at most.

Are short links safe?

A short link is as safe as the page it leads to, and the risk is that it hides that page. With Qlynk you can check any link before clicking by adding a + at the end. Qlynk also refuses links from other shorteners, blocks banned domains and lets anyone report a dangerous link.

How can I see where a Qlynk link goes before clicking?

Add a + at the end of the link: qlynk.eu/your-link+ shows the destination, the website, the creation date and the report status, without redirecting and without counting a visit. The link checker tool does the same from a pasted URL.

How do I report a dangerous Qlynk link?

On the “Report a link” page, with no account needed. You enter the link, the reason (phishing, malware, scam, spam, illegal content or other) and, if you like, details and your email address. Reports are limited to 5 per hour per visitor.

What happens when a link is reported?

After several reports from different visitors (three by default), the link shows a warning before redirecting, and Qlynk is notified. The link is then reviewed by hand: if it is dangerous, it is disabled and returns a 410 page that gives the reason and no longer redirects anyone. Otherwise, the warning is removed.

Who is responsible for what a link points to?

The member who created it. Under the terms of use, they alone are responsible for where their links go, and Qlynk is not liable for the content of the destination sites. Qlynk does refuse IP addresses, unusual ports, other shorteners and banned domains, but it does not review every website. Phishing, malware and illegal content are forbidden and can lead to the link or the account being disabled.

API and integrations

Does Qlynk have an API?

Yes. Qlynk’s REST API v1 returns JSON and uses a personal key, created in your dashboard and sent in the Authorization header as a Bearer token. It is available on the Free plan (50 requests per day) and on Pro (10,000), and the counter resets at midnight Paris time. Beyond the limit, the API returns a 429 error.

What can I do with the Qlynk API?

Create, list, read, update and delete links, manage categories and subcategories, and read a link’s stats. Your plan’s limits apply to the API too: for example, expiration dates are Pro only. The API documentation is in French for now, with an English version planned for December 2026.

Is there a Qlynk mobile app, Zapier integration or MCP server?

No. Qlynk has no mobile app: you use it in the browser, on a computer or a phone. There is no MCP server, browser extension or ready-made connector for Zapier or Make either. The REST API lets you connect Qlynk to your own tools.
